Although it can take some serious guts, travelling solo can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do. And here’s why…
Here at Mondial Travel we love organising solo trips. Why? Because we can’t contain our excitement thinking about the possibility awaiting our single holidaymaker. Leaving everything behind and uncovering the world on your own is the ultimate way to see the world.
Why travel solo?
There are hundreds of reasons to go it alone when it comes to travelling. Today, we’re just going to share a few of our favourites with you. There’s no doubt that it can be particularly scary or challenging to some people but if you enjoy your own company and you’re hungry to discover new places, it might be the best decision you’ve ever made. And of course, you’re guaranteed to make new friends along the way. After all, there are 7 billion people on this planet…
Your preferences come first
It sounds obvious but it really is one of the greatest things about travelling alone. From where you choose to eat to the sights you choose to see, no-one else can have a say in what you do and where you go. Don’t fancy a night on the town? Stay in with a good book, instead. Want to walk up the mountains instead of taking the cable car? Absolutely fine.
You can work to your own timescale
No more waiting around for your mate to turn up at the airport. No more hurrying the kids along to put their shoes on. Whether you want to take things slow or you’re travelling at top-speed, it’s all up to you. Toilet breaks and food pitstops can take half the time or double the time if you so choose. And if you fancy a lie-in after all your energetic exploring, no-one’s going to force you out of bed! Except housekeeping, maybe…
You’ll cover more ground
When you’re on your own, it’s easier to get things done. You probably know this from your everyday routine. Going to the supermarket alone instead of with your partner, choosing your takeaway order – everything is quicker when there’s just one person involved! Because of this fantastic advantage, you’ll be able to tick off many more locations and attractions during your trip.
You’re more likely to make real friends
If you’re stuck on holiday with a group of mates or your family, yeah, you might make some friends at the bar one evening. But if you’re already with a load of people, you’re much less likely to really get to know someone new. Why would you bother? But when you’re travelling alone, you’ll be forced to speak to strangers. Of course, you don’t have to. However, we almost guarantee you’ll strike up much more interesting conversations with other travellers if you’re doing it solo. And who knows, they might be in the same boat as you!
You’ll boost your confidence
Once the trip is over, you’ll feel like you can do anything. After all, you’ve faced the trials and tribulations that often come with travelling, except you’ve done it all on your own this time. You’ll be much more equipped to face travel-related obstacles in the future and just about anything else that life throws at you. Job interview? No problem. You’ve just made friends with five strangers from five different countries and navigated your way around without knowing a single word in the native languages. Go you!
